This beautiful Sher-Wood PMP hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Stan Mikita while playing for the Chicago Black Hawks. Mikita is one of hockey’s all-time greats and his incredible career numbers strongly back it up. Stan is a member of the exclusive 500-goal club with over 900 career assists and nearly 1500 career regular season points. These amazing totals were earned during an era where very few were able to accomplish these feats. Stan spent his entire 22-year career with the Chicago Black Hawks and is thought of as a legend in the Windy City. He played in 9 All Star contests and was 8 times voted a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star. Stan won the Stanley Cup in 1961, the last time the Black Hawks had done so prior to the 2009-10 season. He was the Lester Patrick Trophy winner in 1976 for outstanding service to hockey in the United States. He won the Lady Byng Trophy in both 1967 and 1968 for the combination of sportsmanship and high ability. He was a 4-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy for leading the NHL in scoring and was also a 2-time Hart Trophy winner as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player.
This surprising 2-time Lady Byng recipient started his career in a very feisty manner, racking up triple digit PIM totals on more than a few occasions. Stan was the leading goal scorer during the Hawks victorious 1961 playoff run. He also led the league in playoff assists and points the following season where the Hawks fortunes weren’t as successful. During the 1965 playoffs Stan’s grit got the best of him as he led the league in playoff PIMS with 53 in a mere 14 games played. The Hall of Fame was made to honor all time legends such as Stan Mikita.
This Sher-Wood PMP hockey stick has the player name “Mikita” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on butt and blade. It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
