Roger Neilson is one of only 9 coaches to coach in 1000 NHL games. He proudly represented the Maple Leafs, Sabres, Canucks, Kings, Rangers, Panthers, Flyers and Senators. Since Neilson had no family, he would stay up late into the night watching video and analyzing games.
Neilson was a well known innovator in the coaching profession. Among his most well known innovations were the use of videotape to analyzing other teams, having a complete knowledge of the rulebook looking for loopholes, putting a defenseman in goal during a penalty shot, and having his goalie leave his stick on the ice when he was pulled for an extra attacker.
In 1999 Neilson was diagnosed with bone cancer which spread to skin cancer in 2001. He died on June 21, 2003 only five days before his 69th birthday. The postcard is in beautiful condition and the signature is a 10.
