This Louisville TPS hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Mike Gartner. Gartner was the 4th overall selection in the 1979 NHL entry draft. The Capitals, who selected him, would get the privilege of his services for the first 10 years of his career. He is still considered the greatest Capital to ever wear the team colors. Following his time in Washington Gartner went on to play for the North Stars, Rangers, Maple Leafs and Coyotes.
His Hall of Fame stats are simply staggering, with in excess of 700 career goals and 1300 career points. He is one of a handful of players ever to eclipse 700 career goals, standing mong the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito and Brett Hull. Mike amassed 15 different 30-goal seasons with 8 of them being 40 or better, including one of 50. He proudly represented his team in 7 different NHL All Star contests. Mike also represented Team Canada in the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups. He was a true credit to the sport and is a deserving member of Hockey’s Hall of Fame.
This stick is taped on the butt. The player name “Gartner” is stamped on the side. Gartner has autographed the blade.
