This home white mesh gamer by Pro-Joy was worn by one of Hamilton’s goalies circa the mid 1980’s. The Steelhawks lasted a total of 4 seasons as a franchise, all of them in the OHL spanning 1984-85 thru 1987-88. Having played sans name on back, and without complete team rosters it is impossible for us to identify which of the teams’ goalies actually donned this sweater.
Now onto the jersey which features one of the coolest customizations on a goalie gamer that we’ve ever come across. In a move that would certainly be outlawed today, there are stretchy knit inserts sewn into panels underneath the arms. The amazing part is they look as though they are there to provide more room for the goalie on the inside, yet they exist entirely on the outside and are there only to provide extra help in blocking shots! The attractive red, silver and black crest is sewn to the chest while the Kenesky’s advertising patch sits on the rear hem. Typical goalie use is worthy of mention on this vintage minor leaguer from a short lived franchise.
