Late 1980's Tie Domi Peterborough Petes Game Worn Jersey
Lot #207

This road maroon knit gamer by Cooper was worn by Tie Domi during his days in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes. Domi began his pro career at the age of 17 with Peterborough. He would spend 3 seasons with the Petes, where he racked up an astounding 546 PIMS in 121 games played. The 1987-88 OHL season alone saw Domi score 22 goals and 43 points while amassing 292 PIMS in 60 games played. Domi would then become the Toronto Maple Leafs 2nd round selection in the 1988 NHL entry draft.

Tie began his NHL career with a 2-game stint with the Leafs in 1989-90. He would next become the enforcer for the New York Rangers and then the Winnipeg Jets, spending parts of 3 seasons with each club. His final NHL stop was with Toronto where it all began. He played for the Maple Leafs for 11 years, retiring following the 2005-06 season. During his career he was involved in many legendary fights, with volumes of fight tapes dedicated to him alone. All told Domi racked up 3515 PIMS in 1020 games. This resounding total places Domi 3rd on the NHL’s all-time list, behind only Tiger Williams and Dale Hunter.

The Cooper tag is sewn in the neck while their logo is screened to the back hem. The team name and player number are all screened on to this late 1980’s sweater. The game wear is tremendous, as you would expect on a Domi jersey. There are stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, bloodstains, pilling, un-repaired holes and 30 team-sewn repairs. There is significant repair work to the back of the neck area as seen in the photos above. All in all, this sweater which was originally sourced some years ago from the Peterborough Pete’s equipment manager, would make a great addition to any collection of “goon” jerseys.
