This stunning white dureen gamer by Wilson and Geisler-Jorgen Sporting Goods was worn circa the late 1960’s during either CPHL or CHL play by player #26 of the Kansas City Blues. The Kansas City Blues served as the St. Louis Blues minor league affiliate beginning in the late 1960’s after St. Louis was granted NHL expansion in 1967-68, as the original 6 era ended and the league went from 6 to 12 teams. Kansas City was part of the CPHL in 1967-68 and then the CHL for the remainder of the era specific to this amazing sweater. Here’s an interesting Kansas City Blues factoid: Doug Harvey, the great NHL Hall of Famer, was the player-coach for the Kanas City Blues in 1967-68.
Sewn into the collar of this outstanding minor league jersey are the Wilson and Geisler-Jorgen Sporting Goods tagging. Easily confusing this as a 1960’s era NHL St. Louis gamer is a common mistake among hobbyists. The subtle difference being the Wilson manufacturer’s tag, as opposed to the NHL club in St. Louis, who had Rawlings made gamers. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, areas of pilling and several team-sewn repairs that are in the exact style of their parent club in St. Louis. A beautiful offering of a pretty tough to find gamer from the days of the old CPHL or CHL.
