This white Sher-Wood PMP 7000 hockey stick was game used by center Jimmy Carson while playing for the Hartford Whalers. Jimmy was drafted in the first round, #2 overall, by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 37 goals as an 18 year old rookie in the 1986–87 NHL season. In just his second NHL season he notched 55 goals, and established himself as one of the NHL's top young players.
Jimmy was part of one of the biggest trades in NHL history when, on August 8, 1988, he was traded with Martin Gelinas, 3 first round draft picks (1989, 1991 and 1993) and $15 million dollars cash to the Edmonton Oilers for Wayne Gretzky, Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski. After a 49 goal and 100 point season his first year in Edmonton, Carson demanded a trade out of Edmonton in November 1989 as he did not like living there. Carson was traded to his home town of Detroit for Adam Graves, Petr Klima and Joe Murphy. Carson would later return to Los Angeles in 1992, playing with Gretzky for two seasons. He later played for the Vancouver Canucks and the Hartford Whalers, where he ended his 13 year NHL career in 1996.
