Lafleur is unquestionably considered one of the game’s all-time greats. His numerous career accomplishments include 6 NHL All Star appearances, 6 consecutive 1st Team NHL All Star selections from 1975-1980, the 1978 plus/minus award, the 1977 Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, 3 Art Ross Trophies for leading the NHL in scoring, 3 Lester B. Pearson Awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and 2 Hart Trophies as NHL MVP.
Guy scored 50 goals in 6 consecutive seasons from 1974-75 thru 1979-80. During that period, Lafleur averaged 54 goals, 74 assists and 128 points per season, just flat out dominating the sport. In 1126 regular season games, Guy totaled 560 goals, 793 assists and 1353 points. In 128 playoff contests Lafleur tallied 58 goals and 134 points. He won 5 Stanley Cups with the fabled Montreal franchise and was not only the face of the late 1970’s Montreal dynasty, but of the entire NHL.
