Guy Lafleur 545th Goal Game Used Stick and Puck Presentation Piece
Lot #273

This blue Chimo GLM 999 hockey stick and Toronto Maple Leafs puck were game used when Guy Lafleur scored his 545th NHL goal against the Leafs in Toronto on January 3rd 1990.  Guy's 545th goal put him ahead of "Rocket" Richard into 8th place on the all-time goal scoring list.  Richard ended his career with 544.  This would have been Guy's 9th goal of the 1989-90 season.  Lafleur is considered one of the game’s all-time greats and was so recognized in the now revered ‘The Hockey News’ book which ranked the 50 greatest players in NHL history. Guy was honored as the 11th greatest player in NHL history in that publication.

His numerous career accomplishments include 6 NHL All Star appearances, 6 consecutive 1st Team NHL All Star selections from 1975-1980, the 1978 plus/minus award, the 1977 Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, 3 Art Ross Trophies for leading the NHL in scoring, 3 Lester B. Pearson Awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and 2 Hart Trophies as the NHL’s MVP.

Guy scored 50 goals in 6 consecutive seasons from 1974-75 thru 1979-80. During that period, Lafleur averaged 54 goals, 74 assists and 128 points per season, just flat out dominating the sport. In 1126 regular season games Guy totaled 560 goals, 793 assists and 1353 points. In 128 playoff contests Lafleur tallied 58 goals and 134 points. He won 5 Stanley Cups with the franchise of the decade of the 1970’s, the Montreal Canadiens. He was not only the face of the late 1970’s Montreal dynasty, but that of the entire NHL.

The Chimo stick is fully taped on the butt and blade.  The stick and the puck have been beautifully mounted along with an engraved plaque that reads in french "Guy Lafleur, 545e but, 3 Janvier 1990, Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens, 2e periode a 12 min. 19 sec., Assistances: Joe Sakic - Peter Stastny".  It has also been autographed by Guy.  This presentation piece is spectacular and are ready for hanging.  A copy of that game's boxscore is shown above.
