Darryl Sittler Goal Puck - Maple Leafs Logo
Lot #298

This Toronto Maple Leafs logo puck was used to by Darryl Sittler to score a goal on October 21, 1972.  Sittler’s accomplishments during his 16-year NHL career are lengthy indeed. His first 12 seasons were spent with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he became both the Captain and the face of the franchise. Nobody will ever forget the night of February 7th 1976 when Sittler produced the greatest offensive game in the history of the NHL. Darryl struck for 6 goals and 4 assists for a total of 10 points in a single game against the Boston Bruins, an NHL record still to this day. That incredible night helped Sittler become the first Maple Leaf’s player in team history to reach 100 points in a season. There was something special about 1976 for Sittler who would net 5 goals in a playoff game against the Philadelphia Flyers and also score the game winner in overtime to clinch the 1976 Canada Cup for Team Canada.

Following his time with the Leafs, Sittler spent parts of 3 seasons in Philadelphia and finished his career with a final season in the Motor City. Darryl’s illustrious career ended with 486 goals and 1121 points. Sittler was often found among the top 10 in league scoring and in 1977-78 Darryl’s 117 points placed him 3rd behind only Guy Lafleur and Bryan Trottier for the league scoring title. Aptly recognized as one of The Hockey News’ Top 100 NHL players of all-time, following the mandatory waiting period Darryl was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.

The puck is in beautiful condition. These goal pucks were labeled for only two years in the early 1970's so they are not easy to come by.
