These Reebok hockey gloves and pants were worn by Marco Sturm as he scored the winning goal, in overtime, in the 2010 Winter Classic. Sturm was drafted in the first round, 21st overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He started his career with the Sharks in 1997-98. Marco skated with the Sharks for 7 full season until a blockbuster deal, midway through the 2005-06 season, brought him to Boston as part of the trade for Joe Thornton. After 5 seasons with the Bruins, Marco split time in 2010-11 with the Kings and Capitals. He signed a free agent contract with the Canucks for the 2011-12 season.
The third annual Winter Classic was held at Boston’s Fenway Park on January 1st 2010, New Years Day. It pitted the Philadelphia Flyers against the hometown Boston Bruins. To the delight of 38,112 fans that braved the cold New England winter day and packed the ballpark, the Boston Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in overtime. That goal was scored by Marco wearing these gloves and pants.
These gloves and pants were worn by Marco during the entire game, making them one of a kind. The brown Reebok gloves have the player name "Sturm" stitched on the cuff. They also have the German Flag. In marker on the left thumb it reads "2010 Winter Classic". Both gloves have been autographed by Sturm on the cuff.
The brown and gold Reebok pants are autographed on the right leg and read "2010 Winter Classic Game Winning Goal". Two nice pieces of Boston Bruins history. Both items will be accompanied by a Bruins/Winter Classic letter.
