This gold air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Tuukka Rask during the 2009-10 NHL season, his recognized rookie season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Rask in the 1st round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. This native of Finland spent several years playing for Ilves Tampere in Finland’s SM-liiga before coming over to North America. Before he ever stepped foot on the ice for the Leafs, they traded Tuukka to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Andre Racicot. Rask is now in his 5th season between the pipes for the Bruins and last spring he became only the 2nd Finnish born goalie in history to capture the Stanley Cup.
The 2009-10 season was a special one for Rask. He took over the starting job from Bruins hero Tim Thomas and went on to lead the NHL in GAA with a spectacular 1.97 and in save percentage with a terrific .931. In 45 games that season, Rask won 22 of them, 5 by way of shutout making for quite an impressive rookie campaign.
The fourth annual Winter Classic was held at Boston’s Fenway Park on January 1st 2010, New Years Day. It pitted the Philadelphia Flyers against the hometown Boston Bruins. To the delight of 38,112 fans that braved the cold New England winter day and packed the ballpark, the Boston Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in overtime.
