This blue air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Sean Avery during the 2008-09 AHL season. Avery is an undrafted winger who has put in 12 years of service to the NHL. He began his NHL career in 2002-03 with the Red Wings and has been an NHL regular ever since, skating for the Wings, Kings, Stars and Rangers. Including this, Sean’s 12th NHL season, he had accumulated 1533 PIMS in 580 NHL games and has the distinction of having a rule named on his behalf. “The Avery Rule” came about after Avery’s constant annoyance and screening of New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Broduer during the 2007-08 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Avery played an 8-game stint with the Rangers AHL affiliate the Hartford Wolf Pack after his release from Dallas in 2008-09 and soonafter joined the Rangers for his 2nd go around. Offered here is Sean’s blue sweater from that brief period of time in the AHL. Sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the sponsorship patch. The game wear on this 2nd set size 58 sweater is on the lighter side, as would be expected, and consists of stick marks, board burns and pilling. Also worthy of mention is a customization to the fight strap. This jersey will be accompanied by a Wolfpack team letter.
