This historic road white gamer by Reebok was worn by Martin Brodeur during the game in which he recorded his 500th career victory. On November 17th at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Brodeur became the 2nd goaltender in NHL history to record 500 Wins, the only other being Patrick Roy, as the Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-2. Brodeur is boldly establishing staggering career totals and will go down in history as the man who turned around the fortunes of a once fledgling franchise.
Brodeur offers the only legitimate threat to Roy’s all-time mark of 551, which he now appears poised to break by early next season. He has continued climbing the all-time Wins chart and ended this season with 538, just 13 shy of Patrick Roy's all-time mark. While Martin appears poised to shatter Roy's Wins mark next season he also continued to build upon his record of consecutive 30-Win seasons, which presently stands at 12. Martin is also the only goalie in NHL history to record seven 40+ win seasons, with nobody even close. With 12 years under his belt, he has yet to have a season where his Goals Against Average was over a 2.70 and he has already recorded two seasons at a sub 2.00 GAA leaving him with a career GAA around 2.20. Martin has 96 career regular season shutouts and may also break Terry Sawchuk’s all-time shutouts mark of 103 some time next season.
As impressive as his regular season success are his staggering playoff totals; Prior to the onset of this years playoffs, Marty had a remarkable 94 playoff wins, 22 shutouts and a 1.92 GAA. He is clearly leaving his stamp on history of one of the game’s all-time greats. In his trophy case already are (3) Stanley Cups, a Calder Trophy for rookie of the year, (4) Jennings trophies for allowing the fewest goals in a season, (3) Vezina Trophies awarded to the NHL’s top goaltender and an Olympic Gold Medal. He is six times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star and has played in 10 NHL All Star games.
This historic sweater was worn throughout the 1st part of the 2007-08 NHL season and also in periods 1 & 2 of Marty’s historic 500th victory. Knowing he was going to set the record that night, Marty put on another jersey for just the 3rd period so that he could have one to keep for his own trophy case, as this one was promised to the NHL jersey program. The game use on this size 58+ goalie cut jersey is just perfect with numerous stick and puck marks found across the body and sleeves of this gamer. Also worthy of note is the red goal post and crossbar paint transfer, which is found doted across both arms, the back tail and in between the back player number, showing how often Martin closely hugged the pipes in this gamer as he perfected his trade. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. Shown above are photo matches of Martin wearing this exact jersey in game action. This fully documented piece of NHL history is ready to be added to your collection. Marty has one in his own collection and you can now own the other. We wish everybody the best of luck in their pursuit of this Hall of Fame worthy gamer.
