This home black air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Chris Thorburn during the 2006-07 NHL season, his rookie year. The Buffalo Sabres selected Thorburn in the 2nd round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. After a 7-year minor pro career that saw Chris play for North Bay, Plymouth, Saginaw and Rochester, he finally became a full-time NHLer. After a 2-game call-up with the Sabres in 2005-06, Thorburn played his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. After a lone year with Pittsburgh, Thorburn joined the Thrashers organization where he played the past 4 years and has recently relocated with the franchise to Winnipeg. Not afraid to mix things up, this right wing plays with an edge and earns his fair share of 5-minute majors.
The game wear on this 1st set size 54 rookie sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, a good many board burns, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops and areas of heavy pilling both inside and out. Additional fight abuse is readily evident in the form of a massive team-sewn repair that begins at the top of the front collar and heads downward a couple of inches and then runs horizontally another 10 inches into the left breast! This jersey will be accompanied by a Penguins team letter.
