2005-06 Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey - Rookie - Team Letter
Lot #115
This home black air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Sidney Crosby during the 2005-06 NHL season, his rookie year. Crosby was the 1st overall draft pick in the 2005 NHL entry draft and joined the Penguins immediately thereafter. He has taken the NHL by storm with his adept scoring and playmaking abilities. In his 2nd season Sid won the Art Ross Trophy as the leagues leading scorer, as well as both league MVP awards, the Hart Trophy and the Lester B. Pearson Trophy. Year 3 saw Crosby lead his Penguins to the Stanley Cup Finals, in what was an unsuccessful bid for the Stanley Cup. However, revenge would come in his 4th season as a Finals rematch occurred and the Penguins defeated Detroit for the greatest title in all of sports.

During the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs, Crosby scored 31 points in his team’s 24 games played. This followed a regular season that again saw him surpass the 100-point plateau. The 2009-10 season was another great one for Crosby. In perhaps the greatest international game of the modern era, Sid led Team Canada over Team USA to capture the Gold Medal with an overtime goal to cap off a storybook ending to the 2010 Winter Olympics. In addition, Crosby smashed his own personal highs for goals in a season with 51, two of them coming on the seasons final day to tie for the Rocket Richard Trophy for most goals scored in the league. Sidney also rang up the 4th 100-point season of his career. Midway thru the 2010-11 campaign it looked as though Sid was going to bust all of his personal scoring records. Thru exactly half a seasons worth of games he had scored 32 goals and registered 66 points before a concussion sent him to the sidelines. The 2011-12 campaign saw Crosby return to limited action while lighting up the score sheets with 37 points in 22 games played. Sid was back in top form in 2012-13 and was again keeping the scorekeeper's very busy as he tallied points at an amazing pace this past year.

Crosby wore this sweater during his highly decorated rookie season, a year that saw him score 39 goals and 102 points while racking up a career high in PIMS with 110. Sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A’, the only year that saw Crosby don this assistant’s letter of honor. The game wear on this 1st set size 54 sweater is on the lighter side and is somewhat tougher to discern thanks to the predominantly black body of this jersey. There are a handful of visible stick and slash marks found scattered on the front, back and sleeves of this rookie sweater. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Pittsburgh Penguins game worn jersey and set tagging while Sid the Kid’s player number 87 is penned in black sharpie on the size tag in the collar. A terrific opportunity to snag a rookie jersey of this modern day phenom that hails straight from the Pittsburgh Penguins, choice! This jersey will be accompanied by a Penguins team letter.
