This home blue air-knit jersey by Reebok was issued for use by Brandon Sugden for the October 7th 2005 home opener against the Calgary Flames. Sugden is in the midst of a 16-year minor pro career. He was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 1996 but has yet to appear in a regular season NHL game. Known as a tough guy throughout the world of minor pro hockey, Brandon has eclipsed the 200 PIM mark on numerous occasions throughout his career.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL Cares Katrina Relief Fund patch. This sweater is game issued as it was prepared for Sugden to use during the Blue Jackets 2005-06 home opener and was later sold by the team. Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the NHL banded together to support the Katrina relief effort. At the start of the 2005-06 season, each NHL team wore a Katrina patched jersey in the 1st period of their opening home games. The NHL and the NHLPA later auctioned these jerseys with the proceeds going to support those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
