This gold men's salesman sample ring by Jostens commemorates the Denver Pioneers win in the 2004 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
The Pioneers are one of the most successful programs playing in Division 1 hockey. They rank 2nd all time in NCAA Men's Ice hockey championships with 7. Only the University of Michigan has more with 9. The Pioneers have had many alumni play in the NHL including Keith Magnuson, Kevin Dineen, Matt Carle and Paul Stastny.
The 2004 NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament saw Denver outlast 16 other schools, playing in a single elimination tournament, to win their 6th national title with a 1-0 win over the University of Maine in the Frozen Four. The Most Outstanding Player of the Frozen Four was the Pioneers goaltender Adam Berkhoel, whose name just happens to appear on this ring. Berkhoel's incredible shutout in the final game helped Denver win their first championship since 1969. He was also named USA Hockey College Player of the Year.
The ring has numerous large cubic zircons set into a bed of smaller stones framing the city name "DENVER". Above and below that is "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS". The right shank has the player name "BERKHOEL", "K2M" surrounded by "FOR THE TEAM JOUNEY-EVENT" and Berkhoel's player number 24. The opposite shank has "2004 Pioneer hockey", the Pioneer logo and "27-12-5" which most likely represents the Pioneers stats for the 2004 season. Inside the ring there is a 15 letter/number code. The ring has very sharp and clear details and is in near perfect condition. A beautiful ring.
