This Philadelphia Flyers jersey was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection. Ken’s collection focused intently on both of Pennsylvania’s NHL hockey teams. We will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this sweater to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society both in support of Ken and to help aid in the fight against Blood Cancers.
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Simon Gagne during the 2002-03 NHL season. This former 1st round draft choice and 11-year veteran had spent his entire career as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers prior to joining the Tampa Bay Lightning this past season. Gagne has two 40-goal seasons already to his credit. He notched 47-goals in 2005-06 and followed it up with 41-goals in 2006-07. During the 2007-08 season, Simon suffered a head injury which caused him to miss all but 25 games that year. He did return at full strength in 2008-09 and lit the lamp 34 times for Philadelphia. Last year Simon helped lead his new team, the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Conference Finals where they fell to the eventual Cup champion Bruins.
The game wear on this size 56 set 1 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, inner pilling and a gaudy team sewn repair running along the black shoulder piping. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. Nicely worn early career example. This jersey will be accompanied by an NHL letter.
It comes as no surprise that this Philadelphia Flyers jersey has solid game wear, as it was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection.
