2002-03 Martin Brodeur Devils Game Worn Goalie Pads - Photo Match - Stanley Cup Season
Lot #228

This set of Heaton/CCM goalie pads were game worn by Martin Brodeur during the New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup winning 2002-03 season. Brodeur is boldly establishing staggering career totals and will go down in history as the man who turned around the fortunes of a once fledgling franchise. Martin now has more wins than any other goalie in NHL history, breaking Patrick Roy's record last season and finishing with 557. Martin was the youngest goaltender in history to 300, 400 and 500 Wins and it is possible that he could reach 600 Wins this season.

Brodeur's record of consecutive 30-win seasons (12) came to an end last season as he played in only 31 game due to injury. He is also the only goalie in NHL history to have seven 40+ win seasons with a record breaking 48 wins in 2006-07. With 15 years under his belt, he has yet to have a season where his Goals Against Average was over a 2.70 and he has already recorded two seasons at a sub 2.00 GAA leaving him with a career GAA of 2.21. Martin and his 102 career regular season shutouts (as of this writing) are also taking aim at the all-time record which is held by Terry Sawchuk at 103. If you combine playoff shutouts with regular season shutouts, Brodeur is already the all-time record holder with 125.

As impressive as his regular season success are his staggering playoff totals; with 98 playoff wins, 23 shutouts and a 1.98 GAA, he is leaving his mark as one of the all-time greats. In his trophy case already are (3) Stanley Cups, a Calder Trophy for rookie of the year, (4) Jennings trophies for allowing the fewest goals in a season, (4) Vezina Trophies awarded to the NHL’s top goaltender and an Olympic Gold Medal. He is a 10-time NHL All Star and will undoubtedly be a Hall of Fame legend upon retirement.

This set of well worn Heaton/CCM goalie pads were used during the 2003 NHL All Star game and during the 2002-03 season, which culminated in the Devils 3rd Stanley Cup title. Martin has beautifully autographed the inside leg in black sharpie “game used 2002-2003 season – 2003 All Star game – Martin Brodeur 30”. Shown above are photo matches of Martin wearing these exact goalie pads during game action. We also have over a dozen more photo matches that can be found on the Getty Images other websites showing Martin in these exact pads both with the Devils and in the 2003 All Star game. Brodeur equipment is nearly impossible to obtain, with very few items ever having been seen in the hobby over the past two decades. This is an incredible opportunity to obtain this monumental set of goalie pads, worn by this future Hall of Famer, and all time Wins leader, during his first ever Vezina winning season.
