Joe scored 625 goals, 1016 assists and 1641 career points which place him top 10 in the history of the sport. His playoff totals are no less impresssive, having produced better than a point per game with nearly 200 for his career, placing him in rare company.
Joe’s hardware includes the Lester B. Pearson award as the NHL’s outstanding player, the Lady Byng trophy for the combination of sportsmanship and high ability, the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP and the Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP. He was also the winner of an Olympic Gold Medal in addition to 2 Stanley Cup rings.
Spending an entire career as part of one franchise is a rarity in today’s era. Joe served the Quebec/Colorado franchise with 20 years of quality service, all the while performing at an elite level of play.
