The 1999-00 AHL season was Noronen’s rookie campaign in the AHL and his stellar play was so recognized, having been awarded the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial award as the league’s outstanding rookie. The following season saw Noronen win the Harry Hap Holmes Memorial Award for best GAA in the AHL. Noronen soon joined the American’s parent squad, the Buffalo Sabres where he spent 5 NHL seasons.
