1997-98 Sergei Fedorov Red Wings Game Jersey - "Believe" - "1998 Stanley Cup Finals"
Lot #214

This road red air-knit jersey by Nike was issued for Sergei Fedorov’s use during the 1997-98 NHL season. Fedorov finished the 2007-08 campaign with 472 career goals and nearly 1150 points. Just as impressive are his 168 career playoff points in 169 games played, which rank him in the upper echelon all-time in that vaunted category. Sergei has 3 Stanley Cups to his credit and other hardware in tow which include (2) Frank J. Selke trophies as the leagues best defensive forward, a Lester B.Pearson award as the NHL’s outstanding player and a Hart trophy as league MVP.

This set 1 jersey never made it into game action during the regular season and was then prepped by the Red Wings as a backup jersey for use during the Stanley Cup Finals. Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 1998 Stanley Cup Finals patch. This patch is sewn directly above the original “Believe” patch. Sewn to the left shoulder of this jersey is the coveted “Believe” patch, making it 2 in total that don this jersey. The “Believe” patch was worn during the 1997-98 season to honor their teammate Vladimir Konstantinov and team masseuse Sergei Mnatsakanov following their tragic automobile accident after a Stanley Cup celebratory party in June of 1997. On the inside hem is the Detroit Red Wings official game worn jersey tagging. It is believed that this jersey was worn for a Stanley Cup photo shoot.
