1997-98 Pat LaFontaine Rangers Game Worn Jersey - Team Letter
Lot #119

This blue Statue Of Liberty gamer by Starter was worn by Pat LaFontaine during the 1997-98 NHL season. A regrettable string of unfortunate injuries struck Pat’s career in its prime and ultimately cost him what would surely have been very lofty career totals. Despite the injury shortened career he still managed seven 40-goal seasons including two of 50 or more. His 148 points in the 1992-93 campaign was one of the decade’s highest totals. When injury forced him into retirement, he took with him 468 career goals and over 1000 career points.

LaFontaine was a winner of the Bill Masterton trophy for the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. He was a staple in the NHL All Star game during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s as he blossomed into one of the sport’s biggest stars. LaFontaine was one of the classiest players of his generation and was deservingly awarded with an induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

This Liberty gamer was worn by Patty during his only season as a member of the New York Rangers, which was also the final season of his career. LaFontaine played in 67 games that year, registering 62 points prior to suffering a career ending injury. There is solid game use throughout this jersey in the form of stick marks, a good many board burns and paint transfer. This is a fine example worn during the last season of a too short lived Hall of Fame career. This jersey will be accompanied by a Rangers team letter.
