This road blue air-knit gamer by Starter was worn by Kelly Chase during the 1997-98 NHL season. Chase spent 8 of his 11 NHL seasons as a member of the St. Louis Blues. He began as a rookie in 1989-90 and remained in the “Show Me State” until he joined the Hartford Whalers for parts of 3 seasons in 1994-95. In March of 1997, the Whalers traded Chase to the Leafs where Kelly played in only 2 games. He returned home to St. Louis the following year and spent the last 3 years of his NHL career with the Blues. Chase was the King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner in 1998, the year in which he wore this sweater. Kelly was an enforcer who amassed 2017 PIMS in a mere 458 regular season games. Despite standing only 6 feet tall, he took on all comers and was a fan favorite in the city of St. Louis.
The sleeves on this jersey have been customized for Chase. The game wear on this 1st set size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, heavy inner pilling and 4 team-sewn repairs.
