1997-98 Jeff Reese Detroit Vipers Game Worn Jersey - "1998 Turner Cup Championship" - "PHPA 30-year Anniversary"
Lot #498
This road purple knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Jeff Reese during the 1997-98 IHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Reese in the 4th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Leafs in 1987-88 and spent parts of 5 seasons with the club before moving onto Calgary. After parts of 3 years with the Flames, Reese spent parts of 3 seasons with the Hartford Whalers, a year with Tampa Bay, a year with the New Jersey Devils and a final season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. During the latter stages of Jeff’s career he helped lead the Detroit Vipers of the IHL to back-to-back Turner Cup Finals. For his outstanding play during that period Jeff earned the IHL’s 1997 James Norris Memorial Trophy. Since retiring, Reese has spent 8 years working as a coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning and most recently the Philadelphia Flyers.

Offered here is Reese’s gamer from the exciting 1997-98 IHL season. Jeff played in 46 regular season games, winning 27 with 4 shutouts and a tremendous 2.22 GAA. He further shined all the way to game 7 of the Turner Cup Championships as he partook in another 22 playoff contests, winning 13 with 2 more shutouts and a 2.44 GAA. Sewn to the right breast of this jersey is the 1998 Turner Cup Championship patch. Sewn to the back hem is the Professional Hockey Players Association 30-year anniversary patch. The sleeves of this gamer have been severely shortened to Reese’s specs. The game wear on this size 56 goalie cut sweater consists of stick and puck marks, some un-repaired abrasions and a skate slice as well as heavy areas of pilling both inside and out. A beautiful example donned by this diminutive netminder as he put forth some of the best heroics of his lengthy professional career.
