1994-95 Pat LaFontaine Sabres Game Worn Jersey - "25-year Anniversary" - Autographed
Lot #58

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Pat LaFontaine during the 1994-95 NHL season. A regrettable string of unfortunate injuries struck Pat’s career in its prime and ultimately cost him what would surely have been very lofty career totals. Despite the injury shortened career, he still managed seven 40-goal seasons including two of 50 or more. His 148 points in the 1992-93 campaign was one of the decade’s highest totals.

When injury forced him into retirement, he took with him 468 career goals and over 1000 career points. LaFontaine was a winner of the Bill Masterton trophy for the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. He was a staple in the NHL All Star game during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s as he blossomed into one of the sport’s biggest stars. LaFontaine was one of the classiest players of his generation and was deservingly awarded with an induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn to the right breast is the Sabres 25-year anniversary patch. This jersey was originally obtained from long time Sabres front office man Kerry Atkinson. On the back there is a personalization from LaFontaine to Atkinson thanking him for all of his support and friendship. On the front are 15 signatures all from former Sabres players from the 1970’s. Included are: French Connection linemates Gilbert Perreault, Rene Robert and Richard Martin, Danny Gare, Jim Schoenfeld, Don Luce, Paul McIntosh, Bill Hajt, Jocelyn Guevermont, Morris Titanic, Gary Bromley, Larry Carriere, Fred Stanfield, Jerry Korab and Gerry Desjardins. Game use consists of stick marks, washed out bloodstains and fine inner pilling. This beautiful gamer, with impeccable provenance, is fit to be framed and proudly displayed and would make for a perfect conversation piece.
