This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Tom Barrasso during the 1993-94 NHL season. This Boston Massachusetts native, and member of the US Hockey Hall of Fame, enjoyed a stellar NHL career. Tom burst onto the scene as a rookie with the Buffalo Sabres in 1983-84 and was so honored with the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year and the Vezina Trophy as league’s best goaltender. Barrasso shared the Jennings Trophy the following season with teammate Bob Sauve. After spending parts of 6 seasons in Buffalo the Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Barrasso and thus changed their fortunes. He would remain a fixture in the Steel City, guarding the pipes for 12 seasons during which time he won 2 Stanley Cup titles. Tom finished his career with short stints in Ottawa, Carolina, Toronto and St. Louis.
During his NHL career Tom was 3 times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star and also a participant in the NHL All Star game. He represented Team USA in the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups as well as the 2002 Olympics where he won Silver. After leading the Pens to back-to-back Cup wins, Barrasso led the NHL in wins with 43 in 1992-93. Barrasso won an impressive 369 games, good for 15th on the all-time list. A compelling case will surely be made for Hall of Fame induction for Barrasso in the near future.
This size 56 goalie cut sweater shows signs of heavy washings. The game wear consists of stick and puck marks as well as pilling both inside and out. A fine looking gamer that was donned by Barrasso merely 2 seasons after backstopping the Pens to a pair of Stanley Cup titles. This jersey will be accompanied by a Penguins team letter.
