After playing his college hockey at Bowling Green University, Ysebaert began his career with the Devils in 1988-89. He would spend parts of 3 years in New Jersey before joining the Red Wings during the 1990-91 season. After 3 seasons in Detroit, and a brief time with Winnipeg and Chicago, Ysebaert began a 5-year stint to finish his NHL career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. In his 2 full seasons in the Motor City, Ysebaert rang up goal totals of 35 and 34, career bests.
