This stunning blue knit Turn Back The Clock gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Doug Weight during the 1991-92 NHL season, his rookie in the NHL. Doug began his career as a member of the New York Rangers in the 1990-91 playoffs, where he played a single game. The following year as a rookie in 1991-92, the Rangers won their 1st ever President’s Trophy, compiling the leagues best overall record. He remained a Ranger for 3 seasons before a deadline deal sent him to the Edmonton Oilers.
After 9 seasons with the Oilers, where he established himself among the leagues better playmakers, Doug moved onto the St. Louis Blues where he played for 6 years before moving to Anaheim. A deadline deal in 2006, which was essentially a loan, proved a good one for Weight and the Carolina Hurricanes who captured the 2006 Stanley Cup, the first for each. Weight recently completed his 2nd season as a member of the New York Islanders. To his credit are 4 NHL All Star berths. He has represented Team USA in numerous World Championships, the World Cup of Hockey and the Olympics. This Stanley Cup winner is a proud member of the 1000 point club.
The 1991-92 season saw each of the original 6 teams sparingly don their stunning Turn Back The Clock jerseys as the NHL celebrated 75 years of hockey. This style is a throwback to the Rangers 1940 Stanley Cup winning season. The Rangers in fact had only a single set of TBTC jerseys produced and Weight wore this jersey in game action a total of 8 times. Shown above is a photo match of Doug wearing this exact jersey during game action in 1991-92.
Sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the 75-year NHL patch. The game wear on this sweater is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling and several team-sewn repairs. It was while wearing this very jersey that Weight scored his 1st NHL Goal. This is an outstanding and seldom offered opportunity to acquire one of these two-decade old gems. This jersey will be accompanied by a Rangers team letter.
