This white air-knit practice jersey by CCM was worn by Steve Yzerman circa the 1990’s. Yzerman, who was selected 4th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, is considered one of the best team captains in NHL history. His ability and grit led the Red Wings to 3 Stanley Cup championships. His career totals will undoubtedly leave him be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
Yzerman scored 692 career goals, 1063 career assists and 1755 career points in 22 seasons. These totals place him in the top 10 of all 3 categories. His playoff statistics are equally as impressive. Steve scored 70 playoff goals, 115 playoff assists and 185 playoff points. Each of these numbers ranks him in the top 15 all-time.
In addition to his 3 Stanley Cups, Steve has also won a Lester B. Pearson trophy as the NHL’s outstanding player, a Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP, a Frank J. Selke trophy as the leagues best defensive forward, a Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy and a Lester B. Patrick Trophy. Yzerman netted 50 goals five different times during his career. In fact, he had a span of six consecutive seasons beginning in 1987-88 where he scored 50, 65, 62, 51, 45 and 58 goals; quite impressive! The 1988-89 season saw Yzerman set career highs with 65 goals, 90 assists and 155 points, an epic year indeed. “Stevie Y” played in 8 NHL All Star games and represented Team Canada in the 1984 Canada Cup, the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and the 1998 and 2002 Olympics. In years to come this Hall of Famer will be fondly remembered by us as one of the best and classiest we’ve seen take to the ice.
Terrific wear highlights this jersey that includes stick and slash marks which are abundant throughout, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, pulls and fine inner pilling. A superb example of a tough to find item from the Hall of Fame career of Hockeytown’s Captain.
