Ciccarelli started off his career with style by scoring a rookie record 14 goals in the 1981 playoffs as a member of the Minnesota North Stars. The North Stars fell just shy that season of winning the Stanley Cup, as they lost to the New York Islanders dynasty in the Stanley Cup Finals. Dino’s rookie record still stands today.
Ciccarelli partook in 4 NHL All Star games during his 1200 plus game career that spanned 19 seasons. He was both gifted and spunky, amassing in excess of 1400 career PIMS. His 73 career playoff goals currently place him in the top 20 all-time, this despite having never won the Stanley Cup. After representing the Twin Cities for much of the decade of the 1980’s, Dino was dealt to the Washington Capitals late in the 1988-89 campaign. This blockbuster deal saw the North Stars receive 2 Hall of Famers to be; Mike Gartner and Larry Murphy.
