This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Dean Chynoweth during the 1988-89 NHL season, his rookie year. The New York Islanders selected Chynoweth with the 13th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. After 4 years with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, Chynoweth made his NHL debut in 1988-89 with the Islanders. He would spend parts of 7 seasons with the Islanders before a deal took him to Boston for the final 3 years of his career. Chynoweth was a noted pugilist who accumulated 667 PIMS in his 241 games of NHL service. His career high of 171 PIMS came during his 57 games with Boston during the 1996-97 season. Since leaving the rink as a player, Chynoweth has become a respected coach, having spent a decade behind minor league benches and most recently becoming an assistant with the New York Islanders.
The game wear on this rookie sweater is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a well-used fight strap, pulls and heavy inner pilling. A nice old school Islanders gamer worn by this fist swinging 1st round draft choice during his rookie season.
