This road orange air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Dave Poulin during the 1988-89 NHL season. After 4 seasons at Notre Dame University, Poulin joined the Philadelphia Flyers where he would spend his next 8 years. Following Philly were stops in Boston and Washington. After hanging up the skates Dave became head coach at Notre Dame, where he served for 10 seasons.
While with the Flyers Poulin would serve as Team Captain from 1984-85 into 1989-90. He would lead his team to 2 Stanley Cup Finals runs where both times his squad would fall to the Edmonton Oilers dynasty. A trade to Boston during the 1989-90 season was just what the Bruins needed. As fate would have it, the Bruins with Poulin in tow would make a run to the Finals and also fall at the hands of the Oilers. Dave would partake in 2 NHL All Star games, in 1986 and 1988. He was the recipient of the 1986-87 Frank J. Selke Trophy, given to the leagues best defensive forward. He also won the 1992-93 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, given to the man who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice while also making a humanitarian contribution within his community.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The sleeves of this gamer have been custom shortened to Poulin’s specs by the Flyers staff. Game wear consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Purchased back in 1989 by our consignor from the original team set offering, this fabulous sweater is seeing the light of day for the 1st time in 20 years. As fresh as it gets.
