This white mesh gamer by Adidas was worn by Jiri Kucera during the 1987 World Championships. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Kucera in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. He never suited up in the NHL but did enjoy a magnificent career in the European Elite Leagues over the course of nearly two decades. Kucera, a center iceman, represented Czechoslovakia in numerous international competitions including many World Championships, the World Cup of Hockey, the 1987 Canada Cup and the 1994 Olympics.
Sewn to the both shoulders of this gamer are the Agfa sponsorship patches. The game wear on this size XL sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and un-repaired burn holes. A black sharpie signature can be found on the inside back player number. Shown above are video highlights of Kucera wearing this exact jersey in a game against the USSR during the 1987 World Championships in Vienna Austria. A terrific video matched example donned towards the end of the ‘Iron Curtain and Communist Block’ era.
