This road red air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Larry Murphy during the 1987-88 NHL season. Murphy was the 4th overall selection in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004, in his first year of eligibility. He spent 21 seasons on NHL ice during which time he captured 4 Stanley Cups, 2 each with Pittsburgh and Detroit. He ranks in the top 15 on the NHL’s all-time career assists list. He also ranks 5th on the all-time scoring list for defensemen with over 1200 points. He is 2nd in career NHL games played trailing only Gordie Howe. Larry tallied double-digit goals in an impressive 16 different seasons. His 150+ career playoff points rank him in the top 20 all-time. Murph performed at an elite level for 2 decades, earning 2nd team All Star selections in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Murphy spent 6 years in Washington spanning 1983-84 through 1988-89. Offered here is Larry’s road jersey from the 1987-88 campaign. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of heavy stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, fine inner pilling, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and a remarkable 20+ team-sewn repairs. A tremendous and well-worn vintage old school example donned by this Hall of Famer a quarter-century ago.
