This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Brian Sutter while serving as St. Louis Blues Team Captain circa the 1986 NHL season. Sutter spent his entire 12 year career with the Blues and would later become the team’s head coach, where he won the 1991 Jack Adams award as coach of the year. Sutter’s leadership qualities were so apparent that he was named Team Captain in 1979, in only his 4th season in the league. This was a title he would hold for 9 years until his retirement following the 1987-88 campaign.
Brian possessed the typical Sutter brother’s hard nosed edge, which he combined with a knack for lighting the lamp. He played in 3 NHL All Star games and tabbed six 30+ goal seasons which included two of 40 or more. His career high of 46 goals came in 1982-83. All told Brian collected better than 300 career goals and nearly 1800 PIMS in 779 regular season contests.
Proudly affixed to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. To the side of this sits a blue sharpie signature in Brian’s own hand. The game use is solid just as you would expect on a “Sutter Brother” gamer. There are numerous stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling, un-repaired burn holes and approximately a dozen team-sewn repairs. A fine example, one of very few that have made it into the marketplace representing this All Star’s fine career.
