1986-87 Peter Stastny Nordiques Game Worn Jersey - Photo Matched
Lot #26

This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Peter Stastny during the 1986-87 NHL season. Stastny entered the NHL in 1980 following a lengthy professional career in Czechoslovakia. He defected from Czechoslovakia along with his younger brother Anton and was followed a year later by his older brother Marian. Together, the trio played for the Nordiques and dazzled fans all across North America with their immense talent.

Peter was awarded the Calder Trophy as the leagues top rookie in 1981, following the first of his 7 different 100-point seasons during the decade of the 1980’s. Due to the late start of his NHL career, Stastny’s final numbers are somewhat tempered, albeit still very impressive. He ended his career with 450 goals, 789 assists and 1289 points and was one of the highest scoring players of the 1980’s, a decade which saw him partake in 6 different NHL All Star games. Peter proudly wore the Captain’s “C” in Quebec for 5 years and will forever be remembered as one of the finest that ever donned a Nordiques sweater. He is truly a deserving member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Proudly adorning the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn in the collar is a born on date tag reading 86-04. The game use on this sweater is solid consisting of many stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, fine inner pilling, un-repaired holes and a handful of team-sewn repairs. The condition of the ever so fragile fleur de lis, letters and numbers would rate a solid 9 on a scale of 10. This is simply amazing considering the amount of game use and would thus be easily deemed a condition rarity. Shown above are photo matches of Stastny wearing this exact jersey during NHL action. This easily rates as one of the finest Stastny gamers in the entire hobby.
