This home white mesh gamer by CCM and Steichens was worn by Keith Acton during the 1986-87 NHL season. Acton began his career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1979-80 and played with the Habs into the 1983-84 campaign when a deal sent him packing to Minnesota. “Woody” would spend 5 seasons wearing the North Stars green and gold before a deal sent him to Edmonton just in time to capture the 1988 Stanley Cup. During the following season, Acton was again on the move, this time to Philly where he would spend the next 5 years before final stints in Washington and New York.
Acton was a pesky center iceman, often in charge of shutting down the opposition. However he was not without offensive skills, having registered a 36 goal 88 point season and an All Star appearance in 1982. In a career that spanned 1023 games, Woody netted 226 goals and racked up 1172 PIMS.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Acton assumed the role of team Captain while Craig Hartsburg was down with injury and is clearly one of the rarest and more difficult North Stars Captain’s gamers to obtain. The sleeves have been customized, having been sewn-in to provide the diminutive Acton with a more snug fit. The game use on this vintage mesh sweater is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, fine inner pilling, un-repaired holes and a handful of team-sewn repairs. This fine defunct green and gold example will easily fit on any North Stars Wall of Fame.
