Description
1986-87 Brent Sutter Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #25

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Syosset Sports was worn by Brent Sutter during the 1986-87 NHL season. The Islanders 1st round selection in the 1980 NHL entry draft burst onto the scene during the midst of the New York Islanders dynasty in the early 1980’s. After a brief call-up during the 1980-81 season, Brent’s career began the following season when, as a mid-season call up, his youth and feistiness would play a key role in leading the Islanders to their 3rd and then 4th consecutive Stanley Cups.

His finest playoff performances took place during the 1982-83 Cup run, as Brent tallied 10 goals and 21 points in 20 playoff games to help secure dynasty status for the New Yorkers. Sutter was a 40-Goal and a 100-Point man during the course of his 1111 game career. During that time he tallied 363 career goals to go along with 829 points and better than 1000 PIMS. Brent represented Team Canada in the Canada Cup games of 1984, 1987 and 1991 and was also an NHL All Star. Perhaps the greatest tribute bestowed upon this "Sutter brother" was being named Islanders team Captain, a title that he assumed from longtime team Captain Denis Potvin. Brent held this title through the remainder of his tenure with the club.

After 11 years on Long Island, Brent moved to the Windy City where he completed his career, spending his final 7 seasons as a member of the Blackhawks. After 2 seasons as the man in charge behind the bench in New Jersey, Brent took on the same role of head coach with the Calgary Flames, his current team.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game use on this sweater is tremendous, thus perfectly personifying the player who wore it. There are loads of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains and heavy inner pilling. This spectacular gamer stands as one of the finer Brent Sutter examples in the entire marketplace, choice!
