Description
1985-86 Rick Lanz Canucks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #33
This road black knit gamer by CCM was worn by Rick Lanz during the 1985-86 NHL season. Lanz was the 7th overall selection in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by Vancouver. He began his NHL career in 1980-81 with the Canucks and remained with the franchise into the 1986-87 season when a deal took him to the Maple Leafs. Rick played 3 seasons with the Leafs and attempted a comeback with the Blackhawks in 1991-92. This imposing defenseman packed a booming slap shot that made him dangerous from the blueline. He tallied double-digit goal totals 3-times during his career with a personal best of 18 coming in 1983-84.

The 1985-86 season saw Lanz score 15 goals and assist on 38 others for a robust 53 points and 73 PIMS while wearing this sweater. Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this heavy weight knit is strong with stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling, a heavily salted and rusted fight strap and by our count 14 team-sewn repairs. Unfortunately the 86 Expo and 100-yr City patches have been lost to history, a commonality of the era. These sweaters are forever easily identifiable to the 1985-86 campaign thanks in large part to the gigantic CCM logo that resides on the back hem. A one-year style which features appealing game use, an original nameplate and a letter of honor, choice.
