Description
1985-86 Peter Ihnacak Toronto Maple Leafs Game Worn Jersey
Lot #320

This hammered Maple Leafs jersey was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection. We will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this sweater to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society both in support of Ken and to help aid in the fight against Blood Cancers.

This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Peter Ihnacak during the 1985-86 NHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Ihnacak in the 2nd round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to coming to the NHL, Ihnacak played in his native Czech Republic for 6 seasons and helped them to a Silver Medal in the 1982 World Championships. Peter then began his NHL career in 1982-83 with the Leafs and spent his entire 8-year NHL career with the club. Ihnacak then left the NHL and went to Europe where he played for the next 7 years. After retiring, Peter became the Head Coach of the Nuremburg Ice Tigers for 3 years and then he took over as the Head Coach of the Hannover Scorpions for a season.

Packed with still vibrant color and plenty of eye appeal, the game wear on this vintage Leafs gamer is tremendous and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, plenty of washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and no less than 30 team-sewn repairs, quite impressive! The all-original nameplate has Peter’s initial preceding his surname. The 1985-86 season was the first in the NHL for Peter’s brother Miroslav, who joined the Leafs that season. Miro spent parts of two years in the NHL, both with the Leafs. For those 2 seasons, the Leafs added each of the brother’s first initials to the nameplates on their game jerseys, which is just an added bonus for the Leafs collector.

It comes as no surprise that this vintage Leafs jersey is loaded with game wear, as it was part of the Ken “Hammered Hockey” Mace Collection.
