This road orange heavy mesh gamer by Eagle was worn by Pelle Eklund during his rookie NHL season in 1985-86. Eklund began his NHL career with the Flyers in 1985-86 and stayed with the team thru the 1993-94 season. He finished up his career playing with the Dallas Stars for a handful of games at the very end of the 1993-94 campaign.
Pelle wore this very jersey during his rookie season as he scored an eye opening 66 points in 70 games, immediately making his presence felt on the scoresheet. He was an important contributer to the Flyers offense. In the 1987 playoffs while stretching the Oilers dynasty to a game 7, Pelle registered 27 points in 26 games, falling just short of the elusive Stanley Cup.
Sewn to the left shoulder of this Eagle mesh is the number “31” in commemoration of the untimely death of All Star teammate Pelle Lindbergh earlier that season. Game use consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a glotch of classic Flyers rope style team-sewn repairs. These Lindbergh “31” gamers are highly collectible by Flyers fans and type style enthusiasts alike. This rookie Eklund gamer has been in our consignor’s private collection for nearly 20 years and is being offered to the hobby for the first time since he acquired it.
