This home white mesh gamer by CCM was worn by Scott Stevens during the 1984-85 NHL season. Stevens was the 5th overall selection in the 1982 NHL entry draft by the Washington Capitals. He would go on to a much-celebrated 23-year NHL career. He played for the Capitals for 8 seasons before signing as a free agent in July of 1990 with the St. Louis Blues.
Merely a year later, in a landmark decision, Stevens was transferred to the New Jersey Devils as compensation for the signing of Brendan Shanahan. He would remain with the Devils until the end of his career 13 years later. In 1635 games played, Stevens scored 908 points and racked up 2785 PIMS. He partook in 233 playoff contests, scoring 118 points and amassing 402 PIMS. After only 1 season in New Jersey, Stevens assumed the title of Team Captain, a role he held for 12 seasons. During this time he hoisted 3 Stanley Cups and was awarded the 2000 Conn Smythe Trophy as most valuable player of the playoffs. Scott represented Team Canada in the Canada Cup, the World Cup of Hockey and the Olympics. He was 5-times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star and appeared in 13 NHL All Star games. This warrior is a member of the NHL Hall of Fame and will be remembered as one of the great leaders and competitors of our generation.
This spectacular gamer was worn during Scott’s 3rd year in the league and during the only 20-goal season of his Hall of Fame career. The game wear on this vintage sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, fine inner pilling and a dozen team-sewn repairs, including some of the patchwork variety. On the inside is a tied up fight strap sitting on a red silky rectangular piece of material which has been beautifully autographed by Stevens in black sharpie. Scott netted 21 goals and added 44 assists for 65-points to go along with an astounding 221 PIMS during this his 3rd NHL season. We can trace the history of this jersey back nearly 20-years to when we first acquired it in 1994. It remains one of the great Scott Stevens game worn examples in the entire hobby and would become an instanst cornerstone item in your collection, choice!
