This road blue heavy mesh gamer by CCM and Sandow was worn by Randy Carlyle during his first season with the Winnipeg Jets. Acquired in a deadline deal, Carlyle joined the Jets late in the 1983-84 season and played in 5 regular season games and 3 more in the playoffs, wearing this gamer while on the road.
Carlyle was the 2nd round selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 1976. After playing parts of 2 seasons with the Leafs, Carlyle found a home with the Pittsburgh Penguins where he would represent the Steel City for the next 6 seasons. Randy’s last stop in the NHL was in Winnipeg, where he played for parts of 10 years before retiring following the 1992-93 campaign. Randy partook in the NHL All Star game 4 different times during his career and was once a 1st Team NHL All Star.
Carlyle enjoyed a 17-year career that saw him play in more than 1000 games and score nearly 650 points. In 1980-81, Carlyle attained his greatest individual honor by capturing the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman. Since leaving the league as a player, Randy has taken up coaching and guided Anaheim to last seasons Stanley Cup title.
As would be expected the game use on this jersey is light. Worthy of mention are some stick marks and board burns as well as what appears to be bloodstaining. A tough 1-year style with the jumbo CCM on the hem, the large holed mesh and the Sandow tagging in the collar.
