Description
1983-84 Mike McEwen Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #35

This home white mesh gamer by Syosset Sports was worn by Mike McEwen during the 1983-84 NHL season. McEwen began his career with the 1976-77 New York Rangers. He spent 3 full seasons with the Broadway Blueshirts and helped them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1978-79 with 20 goals from the point. The following year he was dealt to the Colorado Rockies, where he remained until the trading deadline in 1980-81 when the New York Islanders acquired him. He would go on to win 3 consecutive Stanley Cups as a member of the Islanders dynasty. As the Islanders were mounting their ‘Drive for Five’ in 1983-84, McEwen was finding it difficult to obtain playing time and Mike was dealt to the LA Kings. He would later go on to play for Capitals, Red Wings, Rangers yet again and spend 3 seasons with the Whalers.

Sewn perfectly into the collar of this gamer are the manufacturer’s, wash, size and year tags. Worn during Mike’s final season on the Island which encompassed 15 games, this sweater shows light game use consisting of stick marks, board burns and inner pilling. From the last season that the Islanders wore multi-colored names on back.
