This road blue heavy mesh gamer by CCM was worn by Dale Hawerchuk during the 1983-84 NHL season. Hawerchuk was the 1st overall selection in the 1981 NHL entry draft. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the team that selected him, the Winnipeg Jets. After his time with the Jets there were five seasons in Buffalo which were followed by short stays in St. Louis and Philadelphia before Doug called it a career. In his 16 years in the NHL, Hawerchuk amassed 518 goals, 891 assists and 1409 points. His assists and points totals rank Doug in the top 20 all-time in the history of the sport.
He won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year for his play in the 1981-82 season. Doug spent many a season representing the Jets in the annual NHL All Star game and was named 2nd team NHL All Star at the very competitive Center position in 1985 when he found himself 3rd in league scoring with 130 points behind only Gretzky and Kurri. Hawerchuk represented team Canada in the 1987 and 1991 Canada Cups and represented Team NHL against the Russians in Rendezvous ’87.
This spectacular gamer was worn by Hawerchuk during his 3rd NHL season. He played in every game for his squad that year and topped the 100-point mark for the 2nd time in his young career. The game use on this heavy mesh sweater is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, plenty of colorful board paint transfer which is found streaked all along the hip areas on both sides of the hem and heavy inner pilling. Shown above are photo matches of Hawerchuk wearing this exact jersey during game action in the 1983-84 NHL season. This beautiful 1-year style, with the large CCM on the rear hem, easily ranks among the best Hawerchuk jerseys in the entire hobby, simply superb!
