This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Walt McKechnie during the 1982-83 NHL season. Walt was a 16 year veteran of the NHL wars, playing for a number of different teams beginning in the post expansion year of 1967-68 with the Minnesota North Stars. He put a wrap on his 200+ goal & 600+ point career with 2 seasons in the Motor City, the last of which came while wearing this very sweater.
Sewn to the inside collar is the Maska and Eastside Sporting Goods tagging. The game wear consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, outer pilling, heavy inner pilling, un-repaired burn holes and a team-sewn repair. These stunning Maska gamers, with the fancy script style numbers, are now a quarter century old and are a 1-year style worn by the Red Wings during only the 1982-83 season. Thus they remain highly prized among collectors.
