This road red knit gamer by Maska was prepared for John O’Grodnick’s use for the 1982-83 NHL season. O’Grodnick successfully patrolled the Left Wing for 14 NHL seasons. The first 8 of those seasons were spent as a member of the Detroit Red Wings where John would earn great acclaim. During this period with Detroit, O’Grodnick partook in 5 NHL All Star games and was honored as a 1st Team NHL All Star selection in 1985.
Statistically the 1984-85 season was John’s best; he tallied 55 goals and 105 points. He formed a deadly duo alongside a young Steve Yzerman during the mid 1980’s that drove the opposition crazy. All told O’Grodnick scored 402 goals and 827 points during his career.
This vibrant red knit sweater by Maska shows no signs of game use. Sewn into the collar are the maska and Eastside tags. These Maska’s with the fancy script style numbers were a one-year style that the Red Wings used during only the 1982-83 season.
