1982-83 Brian Bellows North Stars Game Worn Jersey - Rookie Jersey - Video Matched
Lot #34

This home white heavy mesh gamer by Steichens was worn by Brian Bellows during his rookie NHL season in 1982-83. Bellows retired with rather impressive career totals. He tabbed 485 goals and over 1000 points during his illustrious 17 season NHL journey. Brian was the Minnesota North Stars 1st pick, 2nd overall, in the 1982 NHL entry draft. Bellows was a 3-time NHL All Star, is a member of the 50-goal club and 4 times scored 40 or more goals in a season. In 1990 he was named 2nd team NHL All Star and over his career he partook in several NHL All Star games. His first trip to the Stanley Cup Finals brought out the best in Brian as he netted an outstanding 29 points in 23 playoff games as his North Stars fell at the hands of the powerful Pittsburgh Penguins. A trade in the summer of 1992 brought Brian to Montreal, and it was in large part to his stellar play that the Canadiens captured the 1993 Stanley Cup in his first season with the club.

Sewn to the collar of this sweater are the Steichens, wash, size and year tags. Brian’s initiation into the NHL wasn’t without punishment as can be witnessed on this spectacular rookie sweater. There are stick marks, board burns, multi-colored board paint transfer, heavy inner pilling, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops caused from excessive use to the numbers and shoulder logos and approximately 20 team-sewn repairs. The 81 year tag dates this sweater at first to the 1981-82 season. Shown above are video matches of Brian wearing this exact jersey during game play in his rookie season of 1982-83.

After coming off of back to back Memorial Cup Finals, Bellows, the 2nd overall selection in the 1982 NHL entry draft began his NHL career in 1982-83 while wearing this very jersey. During his rookie season, Bellows played in 78 games for the North Stars and scored 35 goals, thus embarking him on a career which would showcase Brian as one of the finest and most consistent wingers to patrol the ice thru the decades of the 1980’s and 1990’s. This is the rookie gamer of one of the finest players to ever wear the now defunct green and gold. An absolute must have gamer for any serious North Stars collection.
